Hello!

Petey

May 29, 2016

Haven't done much on the site in ages. However, I will complete the history this summer for London, Ontario and Montreal. I can work on it from anywhere now with my new Surface Pro. I also noticed that the music jukebox doesn't work/appear on my iPhone.

Haven't done much on the site.

However, here is an article in the Toronto Star about the former Vee Gates drummer Daniel Schwartz who lives in Toronto these days, plays for the Key Frames and is battling a condition called Dystonia.

May 1, 2011

I finally started working on the band's history in London, Ontario.  My computer was out of commission from late November to early January 2011.

Anyway, I hope to finish all by summer.

November 13, 2010

I'm back to working on reworking band's history with old photos and stories. I have a new computer so I should be able to get a lot of work done easily.  My internet was down for almost three weeks due to my old DSL modem and Windows 7 so I had time to edit these pages.

I've also had some problems transferring the web pages from my old computer to my new computer.   I've uploaded pages but some links won't work.   Be patience.

Stay tuned,

Petey

December 30, 2009 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm determined to finish the history of the band by the end of January.  I've added "Song Notes" to at least 95% of the songs.  That even includes basic guitar chords.

Stay tuned,

One Russian Winter is now online.  The second last Vee Gates' song ever recorded! (1989)

June 04, 2007

There once was a song called Reggae Mortis composed and performed by the Vee Gates back in 1988 in Montreal.  Many eons later in 2003, the song was refurbished by Vee Gates front-man Petey Forrest into a song for his children's Halloween CD The Frankenstein Files.

The good news is in that NYC's renaissance gothic artist Voltaire has done a fab. version of Reggae Mortis (June 2007) based on the Frankenstein Files version!

Finally!  We have unearthed the sole Vee Gates video!  Not a live performance on tape (that show was lost!), but the video "Mystery Girl" from Super 8 (just converted this week-end) that was filmed and directed by Rockin' Russian Rina (April 1989)

Halloween is coming!  Check out www.frankensteinfiles.com.  (project by Vee Gates guy Petey Forrest)

September 15, 2006

I decided to purchase the veegates.com domain name! The price was right!  Cost about the same as a 24 pack of beer!  Not bad!  I've now consolidated all the following hosted hobby sites sites under one account.

There is now lots of breathing room for TONS of files!

The Vee Gates history pages will be updated soon!

Danny-boy Schwartz, has found an old Vee Gates practice tape during a spring clean up at his place in Toronto.  I hope to get this tape soon and convert it to MP3s!

Happy New Year!  Finally, the Photo Gallery has underwent a cool redesign!    I'm also starting work on writing up the history sections for London, Quebec City, and Montreal.

I just dug up the first Vee Gates show in London, Ontario souvenir song sheet!  It's very funny how some tunes were listed as ? or !.   I'm not even sure now after all these years what that meant! hehe

January 6, 2005

Added new photos.  They will be shrunk and organized later.  Enjoy for now.

January 3, 2005

Added the lyrics for the songs on the music page.  Click on a song title and it will bring you to the lyrics and you can download the full mp3.  There is also an alphabetical song index pulldown menu on the music page.

December 31, 2004   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The openings and endings of the mp3s have been cleaned up.  Some of the files contained too much space and song overlap.

December 20, 2004

Updated the music page.  It now has the proper chronological recording history of the Vee Gates (1986-1988) with full mp3s at your beckon call!  lol

November 23, 2004

The 1985 London, Ontario "The Game is afoot" 3 song demo tape has just been converted from the original studio reel to reel (dated Feb. 26, 1985).   This "off the floor" demo was engineered by Rob Nation at Emac Studios in London, Ontario.   Many thanks goes out to David Cain of SoundMaster Studios of Ottawa, Canada for artfully rescuing the original, almost 20-year old Ampex reel to reel!

October 17, 2004

The virtual tour is still under heavy construction.  The opening section for Sarnia is almost finished and London, Quebec City, and Montreal will follow.   A new page to introduce the tour was added.
